Streams (median) is how many 4K films the card can transcode down to 1080p at the same time while every one stays above realtime. We rank by the median of clean runs rather than the single best, so it reflects a typical result and not a lucky one.
≈W/stream is the power used per simultaneous stream, so lower is more efficient. An Intel iGPU sips power, while a big discrete card only looks efficient once it's running plenty of streams.
Capacity such as · 16 GB shows how much video memory a discrete card has. The 8 GB and 16 GB versions of the same card are listed separately, because for transcoding the amount of VRAM often decides how many streams fit.
Why a card stops comes down to 1 of 3 things. A VRAM wall means it ran out of video memory, so a bigger-memory version would go further. A session cap means it hit the NVIDIA driver limit on simultaneous encodes rather than a hardware limit. Throughput means it ran out of engine speed, and more VRAM wouldn't help.
Locked and unlocked refer to the NVIDIA driver cap on how many encodes run at once. Some people patch that limit away, so a locked and an unlocked card are shown separately.
Provisional means there's only 1 clean run so far, so the number may move as more people submit the same card.
DDR4 and DDR5 matter because an integrated GPU borrows system memory as its video memory, so faster RAM moves the score. We split iGPUs by memory generation for a fair comparison.
